Kirstenbosch, David & Goliath and The Barleycorn Festival

No words can truly describe what it feels like to live out a lifelong dream, the rush of the stage, the audience and the open air – Kirstenbosch – an unbelievable experience I hope to repeat again soon. Even sweeter for me was to have my family cheering me on, especially my two boys shouting ‘Go Mommy’ from their picnic blanket on the grass.
The past few weeks have been a blur, the fires which have swept through Cape Towns Mountains have been devastating. Living in the South Peninsula, watching the fire encroach and having family and friends involved in the fire fighting operations has been quite something – I wrote and recorded a song called
David & Goliath as a tribute to the firemen and all those who volunteered to help fight the fires. The response to the song has been humbling and encouraging.
I had the opportunity to perform it live for the first time at the Baxter Theatre at the 2015 Barleycorn Festival, which was another experience I will never forget, sharing the stage with South African legends David Kramer & Albert Frost.
I keep asking myself, “Kirstenbosch, David & Goliath and The Barleycorn Festival. Can it get any better than this?”
